The Awana club for children in kindergarten through second grade builds on the material taught in our preschool club. The aim of the curriculum is to take youngsters a step deeper into God's Word while giving unsaved boys and girls regular opportunities to hear the gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. After being immersed in solid foundational teaching at the preschool level, boys and girls frequently come to an understanding of their need to trust Christ as their personal Savior while in Sparks.

Sparks curriculum is comprised of three handbooks. Each handbook communicates spiritual truths through memory verse drills, crafts, activities and review of key doctrine, Bible facts and verses. The current handbooks follow a nature motif, whereas the new handbooks follow a flight theme. Between now and 2010, all handbooks and corresponding club materials will be updated to fit this new theme and include exciting new features.

The first new handbook, arriving in 2008, begins a chronological journey through the Bible, starting with Genesis and ending with Joshua. Before working in any of the new handbooks, all newcomers to Sparks will complete an entrance booklet — Flight3:16 — that centers on the gospel message of John 3:16.
